Peacock is adding live TV to it’s lineup, but it will only be available for those who are subscribers for the service’s top-tier Premium Plus plan, which carries a price tag of $9.99 a month or $99.99 annually.
While some of the features are already available depending on the market, everyone will have live TV by November 30th, and users will see a brand new channel on the homepage of Peacock that will feature the local broadcast network/NBC local affiliate station.
NBCUniversal is trying to match and surpass Paramount Plus with this new move, and the battle between streaming and cable television wages on, with platforms making bold moves to invoke cutting cable, which has seen a spike in costs. It also provides people a cheaper live, linear feed of local NBC stations.
Peacock has an estimated 30 million active accounts and over 15 million paying subscribers as of October 2022.
