If you’re appreciative of your Amazon drives this holiday season a brand new promotion from the company will give their drivers an additional $5 if you simply tell Alexa to say “thanks” for a recent delivery.
“Nothing is more important to us than customer trust,” Amazon spokesperson Maria Boschetti said in an official statement, per Bloomberg. “This lawsuit involves a practice we changed three years ago and is without merit. All of the customer tips at issue were already paid to drivers as part of a settlement last year with the FTC.”
This comes as the company deals with a lawsuit from the DC Attorney General that alleges the company has been misleading consumers by using tips to cover couriers’ base pay. Amazon has recently made investments to increase benefits and pay for its warehouse workers and delivery drivers by $1.
“For drivers, it’s more than just the packages that they deliver — they form relationships with customers, provide support to the community in tough moments, and sometimes play the role of the unexpected hero,” Beryl Tomay, vice president of Last Mile Delivery at Amazon, wrote in an official press release.
